About specialist demolition
Here at DEMSO we can supply a bursting service to remove a variety of structures and materials such as reinforced concrete, brick, stone and cementitious grout.
Bursting is one of our methods of controlled demolition. It is a very effective technique, often used for the removal of structures such as pile caps, ground beams, thick walls and floors.
It is quiet, dust free and vibration free, so it is not intrusive on the surrounding environment, and it eliminates the dangers of HAVS.
The process starts with a trained DEMSO operative diamond drilling a series of holes into the structure. The burster head is then inserted and the hydraulic pistons expanded, up to a controllable pushing pressure of 250 tonnes, forcing the structure to crack into smaller sections for removal.
A series of bursting heads can be used simultaneously, boosting the pushing pressure to approximately 2,000 tonnes.
DEMSO have a range of burster sizes for different applications, from 110V and three-phase electric to petrol driven.
Hydraulic crunching
Hydraulic crunching is another of DEMSO’s methods of controlled demolition, suited to the removal of walls, floors and similar structures up to 310mm thick in reinforced concrete, brick or stone.
The process is carried out by two of our operatives holding the cruncher jaw frame, which has pistons on either side. It is placed over the structure and the pistons are forced together by up to 30 tonnes of controllable hydraulic pressure, taking a bite out of the structure and turning it to rubble for easy removal.
Any reinforcement can then be cut out and the process repeated until the structure has been removed. DEMSO have a variety of crunchers available, either three-phase electric or petrol driven. We also have smaller 110V one-man versions, ideal for smaller projects. The method is lightweight, dust free and vibration free, so it eliminates the dangers of HAVS.
Cut and lift
Our cut and lift service is ideal for removing large areas of reinforced concrete wall or floor. We use a combination of our diamond drilling and sawing techniques to cut the concrete and lift the sections away using site tower cranes or block and tackle frames.
The process eliminates the rubble element of demolition, making it dust free and vibration free, and removing the dangers of HAVS.
